The Joy Of Reach

This is the 1st time I had applied a full face of makeup 4 years ago, that looked super natural and gave me the confidence to go start a Youtube channel on beauty.
My underlying focus was to empower women to accept their skin and themselves. My tag line was ” Exploring Beauty Inside Out”
To know that we didn’t NEED makeup, we JUST wanted it!
And the beauty was in knowing the difference 🙂
I called my channel ” JoyGeeks” to say that Joy is worth being geeky about, and that when one felt joyful, one looked beautiful anyway.
I showed my skin raw and unfiltered, kept the greys on my hair intact, made beauty videos with specs on , used minimal makeup ,very often stayed without any make up at all, and attempted to be myself on camera.
There’s not a single make up tutorial on my channel that says ” FLAWLESS” makeup.
Now close to 4 yrs , over 350 videos and 4 millions views on my channel, we are 60000 Subs strong on youtube and 30000 followers strong on Instagram.
More than the numbers, I am thrilled when women write to me about feeling happy about themselves, accepting their skin and their appearance and practicing a lot more of self love.
And then, makeup is for FUN 🙂
It’s been a long way here, and of course a long way to go ahead, but just wanted to share that I am glad I did what my heart desired, even though it may have seemed like an odd choice to many 🙂
My prayer and wishes for everyone to live the life they truly desire, free of societal pressures and expectations.
If you are contemplating over this yourself, I am just a message away.
We could chat, maybe it would give you another perspective, or just be able to share your thoughts to someone non judgemental.
Have a great day 🙂
Hugs! Aparna
